RIG |Tackling Construction Waste

Construction waste is a significant issue, with over 75% of it being unused or unrecycled. In the U.S. alone, construction waste doubled that of municipal waste in 2018. However, the C&D waste management market is growing, with a projected value of $271.68 billion by 2028.

Key statistics include:

  • Annual construction waste is estimated to reach 2.2 billion tons globally by 2025.
  • 23% of the national waste stream is construction and demolition (C&D) waste.
  • The U.S. generated over 600 million tons of construction-related waste in 2018, a 342% increase since 1990.
  • Between 2005 and 2018, C&D waste levels grew over 10 times faster than from 1990 to 2005.

Construction waste disposal statistics reveal that 30-40% of total solid waste globally is C&D waste, with almost 145 million tons ending up in U.S. landfills in 2018 alone. Recycling efforts are critical, with over 76% of C&D waste being recovered or recycled in the U.S. in 2018.

To tackle this issue, strategies like adaptive reuse, using recycled materials, and reducing supply waste through tools like Building Information Modelling (BIM) are recommended. Despite challenges, the construction industry is making strides towards a zero-waste future by maximising recycling, efficient asset management, and minimising demolition projects.

Here at Recycle it Global Ltd (and all it’s subsidiaries) we are tackling the waste issue(s) felt across the globe, and in particular the construction, demolition, mining, and marine dredging sectors. We are focused on significantly reducing the quantity of waste materials destined for landfill or mine waste facilities across the globe. Processing this waste and returning recycled aggregates back into the market.

We specialise in processing technical waste streams that are usually expensive and difficult to dispose of due to high levels of contamination.

Our cost-effective engineering solutions, not only deal with the most complex waste, but also provide qualifying and sustainable products back to global infrastructure projects. At RIG we don’t just process waste we also identify future opportunities at a global and local level, Build state-of-the-art facilities and carry out advanced research and development in the waste processing sphere.
